"One can not lead another where one has not gone himself"!!!

A professional will show good ethical qualities that are consume with the practice of good deeds and behavior. I think it is very important to consider the lifestyle of the professional, I am taking advice from. For instance I consider myself a hairstylist--if my hair is not maintained and looking up to par, I am sure, I will not get any new clients nor will I have a stable clientele. Professionalism begins with first carrying yourself in a practice what you preach kinda way of life. I think this will help speak in great volumes for your advertisement...It will also build a great and stable business that will surely flourish. People like to see positive results, those results start with the profession. If their is accomplishment in the lifestyle of the profession, I am sure the professional can help build that same accomplishment within me!!!:)

To take your example a step farther....I used to leave the salon with my hair wet. I was only going home, so it didn't matter. Wrong. My stylist explained to me that she felt she didn't finish her job and couldn't see the end result. I didn't realize it mattered to her, but it did. Now I let her dry, style and fluff. I feel pampered and she gets a feeling of completion..

Hi angie!

Great analogy about the hair and not feeling complete without it done. I am in the Southe where no one goes out looking their best. Lucy makes a good insight about having them finsih your hair. I used to leave the salon with wet hair. I actually went to a place that used to charge extra for the dry and style. I know go to a woman that has a salon out of here home. My hair actually looks better and she charges about 1/3 less lol.

Thats a stylist nightmare to allow his/her client to leave the salon unfinished. Thats a really big no! No! You really trusted her work too, I see. Lucy, I think you are such a wonderful person. I really love your personality. Yes, a stylist enjoys pampering their clients, I am glad you can find enjoyment and relaxation in getting your hair done. Your the best Lucy you really are. Thanks for posting here on my blog, Angie

Yes! The best hair stylist are those who r self employed. You are on the right track. I agree with the point you made, when stylist work for a chain or employed by a independent company money has to be split up in so many different ways til its really sad. I worked as a stylist on a military post--well if I made 1000 dollars, I would only get $500. If I sold hair products, I would only get 10% of the profit of saling the product. So, that is why you were charged so much. I am glad you found someone you can trust and afford. Best wishes to you, angie:)

Angie,
You are right. When someone tells me they are a beautician the first thing I do is look at their hair. If someone says they are a mechanic I look at their hands. But, with out profession its a little harder. Trust me, people who are searching for the same things we are somehow have that connection of knowing if you are right with yourself!
